Two of the leading names in the development and manufacture of mobile technology are joining forces to produce a new mobile solution for the healthcare sector.

Casio, the leader in the manufacture of hand held terminals and software developer MMCC are working to produce a new light, robust unit to help hospitals track and manage blood supplies and medicines.

The compact terminal will deliver on demand data capture and real-time communications in any environment indoors or out and help to reduce the potential for incorrect deliveries.

Guy Boxall, Divisional Manager at Casio’s UK mobile technology division, explained that the new solution will be based upon their award winning IT800 high speed 3G wwan communications supporting Bluetooth and mobile phone capabilities. It is compete with an integrated smart card reader/writer.

He added “Casio is a market leader in mobile technology. Our hand-helds are used throughout the health care sector in Asia and the Far East. The link with MMCC is a natural progression. Their team of software developers have considerable experience in bespoke software for mobile devices. Their working knowledge will be invaluable.”

MMCC business development manager Stuart Griffin commented “We have been researching UK market sectors that could improve data-capture and product tracking with mobile technology and software developed to meet specific applications. The healthcare sector is one that has shown particular interest in real-time data-capture.”

Work on developing software for a wide range of healthcare applications is underway.

Casio and MMCC are looking for hospitals throughout the country to run trial applications.
